Chapter #74
"Using Organic & Inorganic Accessories for Ikebana Arrangements"
Presented by: Laurie Wareham, Ichiyo School
In her demonstration Laurie explored a range of accessories to accent arrangements from traditional driftwood to contemporary metal.
Laurie’s comments included a brief description of three important principles of the Ichiyo Ikebana School.
1. Ichiyo ikebana is about the personal interpretation of the arranger. Imagination is important and the arrangement should be a reflection of the person making the arrangement.
2. An arrangement is an example of a living relationship between nature and humanity.
3. Ichiyo ikebana is about the balance of the material and the container. The material and the container cooperate to enhance the finished arrangement.
